First of all, yes, this multimeter measures DC current with "clamps". Many of these instruments are advertised as AC/DC amp gauges, but if you pick up the tool, it turns out that it can only read AC amps. I am mainly interested in the DC side for auto electric repair. Current clamps are ideal for determining the cause of battery drain when you leave your vehicle overnight (electromagnetic surges). The ammeter quickly resets to zero, the readings are accurate. All processes (amps, resistance, voltage, etc.) are easily adjusted with the rotary knob, and there are detents to let you know when you've reached the desired setting. The display is large enough to be easily read and the meter will beep to confirm the selection with the blue buttons. This meter is perfect for what I use it for. I can put it in my shirt pocket. Less isn't always better, but definitely better in this case. I get all the diagnostic information I need to make a preliminary decision before moving on to a more specialized (usually much larger) tool. In most cases, this is the only tool I need to diagnose, repair, and verify an electrical problem I'm working on.
