It has no direction. There's a pamphlet inside that says it is, but the writing is so small it's almost impossible to read. It says: 1) CHARGE 2) DOWNLOAD AND PAIR On your phone, download the Fossil Smartwatches app. He will explain to you exactly how to do this. I found out more on You Tube. I also looked for a printed manual for the Fossil Hybrid HR Smartwatch and it was listed, but I didn't download it. Back to YouTube. I'm getting the hang of it, but it can be frustrating. It also doesn't tell me anything about the battery level of the phone. I found it in the phone app but not on the phone itself. I don't want to go to my phone to see if I should charge or if I'm fine.
