Better than some but still standard design

I'd love to see someone make fans like they used to, but these days pretty much everything on the personal/room fan market is made equally cheap. I bought two of these and left one unused until last week. The first ran almost 24 hours a day for two years, with a bronze bushing being relubricated about six months ago. Running the fan all the time is actually easier than turning it on and off all the time, but it's still a lot of hours so can't really complain. As it died it did the typical freeze and snatch that always happens on time, and when it does happen when you're not around to catch it and turn it off, the little thermal fuse inside will blow and kill the fan entirely . These little fuses are cheap and replaceable if you're willing and can rewind the motor windings, but given the cheap price of a new fan, it's a labor of love. So they're ok but made literally the same as most other small AC fans and the motor and switch in this one doesn't seem to be of the best quality than everything else, very basic parts and design. If someone made just one of these with sealed ball bearings and an updated cap design for another dollar, they'd hit a goldmine as soon as it comes out. All of this to say that the air movement on this one is a little weak compared to cheaper and better/same price fans I've had in the past. This works well enough, but if you want to feel the breeze, you need to keep it at a distance. I think the noise level of this device is pretty low compared to others, but it's not quiet. Based on what's currently on the market, it seems that if you want more airflow, you'll need to upgrade to a 6-inch fan size. All good powerful mini fans seem to be a thing of the past. So that's fine, but not great, and at least the basic design is safe and secure, even if the bushings/bearings are the typical crappy design that's guaranteed to fail. There are probably worse fans out there.
