they are "soft", not hard like a rock so I think they last a lot longer, and also not as noisy as others (I think soft ones play too with this). I like them a lot, they seem to be of good quality. I've been using them for many months and have nothing negative to report. I will be buying again when they finally break, not that they are falling apart at this point or anything, just that they are the nicest I've had in years, actually the nicest since my first pair and they're about 4 years old or lasted longer more, everything has lasted about a year since then, more or less, only cheap imitations. This product is like the original, not a cheap imitation. Updated 12/29/17. A bead is rarely held together by less than an inch of material that is 1/2 torn. SO disappointed, 4 months and done. They were quiet and worked very well before. 4 months is not enough.
