For a super cheap LED macro flash, it does the trick. It lights up when needed, and it's handy to only be able to select half of all the lights. If everything works as it should I would give it 4 stars. However, there are several problems. First, when you press the power button, it doesn't turn on. Eventually, however, he turns around with enough strength and a scream. To turn it off, I just take out the battery. The second problem is that the plastic lens adapter rings tend to flex and flex enough to disengage from the lens threads. It's definitely easier to attach and detach the flash by simply detaching the flash and depressing it, but there's something to be said for a permanently attached accessory. Third, the LED ring itself is loosely attached to the adapter ring, allowing the light to rotate freely. Not too much of a hassle if you're using all the lights at once, but if you want to use the left/right only option, this becomes a big problem. However, putting duct tape on half of the ring seems to have fixed the problem. Finally, the color of the LEDs is a bit cold, and if you use a yellow ring, it will be too yellow (yellow, not warm). So when it turns on, it works just as well as a $30 flash. You get what you pay for, but when it works, it works.
