Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Hooke Road 7-inch Round Headlight Mounting Bracket Ring for Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018 (Pack of 2): Sturdy and Compatible Upgrade by Carlos Long

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The inner diameter is too small to fit actual DOT/SAE/ECE approved headlights.

If a company wants to reproduce an OEM part they should at least try to match the OEM dimensions or at least the SAE or ECE standards they are based on . Unfortunately, as a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy, Hooke seems to have copied someone else's design, another clone copied the original and never checked that they fit. And yet the dimensions were fuzzy, or maybe poor offshore quality control just didn't care, and the bore is 1/8 to 1/4 inch smaller than the OEM and three other SAE/ECE approved headlights. I have used on my JK. Now it may not affect all headlights. But it affects the headlights of the Rigid Truck Lite. It is impossible to fit the headlight into the retaining ring without damaging one or the other. I don't mean much; this is a complete failure. Now curious, I've tried these with a Sunpie LED with switchable halos and they work. Then I tried them with an old set of E-Code Bosch H4 halogen bulbs: they didn't fit. Then with DOT Hella H4 halogen lamps: Not suitable. Finally with OEM H13 halogen bulbs: not suitable. Conclusion: only 1 out of 5 headlights sold for this application fits the ring. The only suitable lamp was another cheaper offshore clone of a better headlamp. So if you are trying to install cheap offshore searchlights, this cheap offshore retaining ring will most likely work. But probably not if you want to use true DOT/SAE/ECE approved 7" round headlights. No matter how cheap they are, I still send them back. I feel like keeping your feet on fire when they don't fit is the only way to get these offshore suppliers to make really quality products. Finally, if you're looking for replacement snap rings that REALLY fit, Crown 680037722AA will fit as an OEM, plus it's made of stainless steel so it won't rust. If you want black, just sand them down and paint them.
