Terrible Webcam - Laptops

This computer is advertised with a 720p (1280 x 720) webcam which, while not Full HD, is fairly standard for built-in laptop cameras. However, we immediately noticed poor image quality. We ran webcam resolution tests on three different websites and all reported that the webcam worked at 640 x 480, which is 1/3 of the advertised quality (and totally unacceptable in today's video conferencing world). Now I see that there are several posts on forums.lenovo.com about bad camera quality. Updating the computer's BIOS and camera drivers did not help. I think it must be a quality control issue at the factory - for example they sent the wrong or counterfeit cameras to the final assembly factory or something. It's not easy to fix. Now I have to choose between the hassle of getting my money back and the cost of a separate webcam. Pretty disappointing. Also note that the laptop is compatible with a digital pen, but this has to be ordered separately (but I knew that when I ordered it). That aside, it seems like a pretty decent machine for the price, so I really wish the camera was up to date.
