They sent me the wrong meter, I ordered the 4 pin 12 volt version and they sent me the USB version. The product description says it has an operating voltage of 5 to 24V (USB - 5), so I connected the USB socket to my 12V source and plugged in this sensor - and it works, no problem. I saw another review that said they burned it by plugging it into a 3 amp USB socket. mine works fine on a 30 amp 12 volt line so take it as you will. Nice little gauge, looks really nice, the back cover is removable so you can safely flush mount it. I wish the probe wire was a few feet longer for my application, but it doesn't matter.
