Review on πŸ“· Minolta 50MM AF f/1.4 Lens for Minolta/Sony SLR/DSLR Cameras - Model 2662-110 by Josh Allred

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great outdated glass for modern cameras.

If you can find a lens in good condition, this under $250 lens is a great deal. It's sharp in the center at full aperture, focuses quickly and accurately on the Sony A7 with the LA-EA4 adapter, and feels very solid. As far as I know, the optics are identical to the current Sony 50 1.4, but better designed. Manual focusing is very comfortable and I have no complaints about the performance of this lens. The built-in retractable hood feels comfortable, but doesn't feel particularly effective. This is a full frame lens that was developed for film cameras and still works with digital cameras today. This lens is DIRECTLY compatible with all Minolta film SLR cameras as well as Sony and Minolta SLR and SLT cameras (Minolta Maxxum 7D, Sony a65, a77, a77ii, a99, a900, a850, etc.). LAEA4 or LAEA2 adapter (for aps-c cameras only). The LAEA1 and LAEA3 adapters allow you to control aperture but NOT autofocus. These are screwdriver lenses that do not autofocus without a motor like the LAEA2 or LAEA4 adapters.

Pros
  • Viewing angle - 47 degrees
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
