Installing the filter is easy. Simply remove your old shower head and replace it with this one. When it's time to replace the cartridge, simply unscrew it from the shower head. This can be difficult as the filter can get stuck after a few months. You may have to use something like an oil filter wrench to remove it. This filter doesn't replace actual purified soft water, but it does remove quite a bit of dissolved solids from the water and does it better than straight from the tap. Mine usually lasts 2 or 3 months but this can vary depending on how many things are in the water.
