We have 2 cats and they love this scratching post more than any other and it lasts longer. I mean, cardboard doesn't break as easily as Chinese ones. . . . I thought cardboard was cardboard, not true. The base will be turned over for a new scratching surface and when both sides of the base are scratched and used I will break it in half and place the sides where the base was and the base where the sides were. . . Then turn them over to make 4 surfaces. Not to mention that this one has an extra tier, it will last sooooooo long. A plus . . . This is an American production!
