Do not buy leather online if you cannot guarantee the quality.

This was not what I expected from a piece of vegetable tanned leather. It wasn't the best quality and I honestly won't buy from them again. It felt and acted more like rawhide than vegetable tanned and I bought it from a local tannery and tanning shop that does a good job and I can verify their quality. Now I also only buy online from my local supplier (who I know has good stuff) but even then I send it to the store so I can guarantee the quality. If you know your supplier and they know the leather is of good quality then you should definitely buy the leather online, but if you are unsure then don't do it. Wait for medieval markets and the like, if tanners and tanners are present, ask them where they source the leather and who their suppliers are (the tanners and they usually talk openly about it). The tanners put their work on display to inspect and judge quality (they can even advise you on the best leather for your projects).

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
