Review on ASUS VP249QGR Monitor: Extreme FreeSync Display with 144Hz Refresh Rate, Flicker-Free & Adaptive Sync Technology, Wall-Mountable, Blue Light Filter & HD Quality by Joe Burke

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great 144Hz IPS monitor!

For the price offered there is really nothing to complain about. As expected, colors look great on the IPS panel and the 144Hz refresh rate looks very smooth. While it doesn't look as snazzy as my BenQ XL2411, the advantages of the IPS panel in terms of color and viewing angles more than make up for it. not officially compatible with G-Sync and it definitely shows. Whenever I play a game with a sudden frame rate change, the monitor goes black for a second or two and then turns back on. It would be unfair of me to deduct a lot of points for this as the monitor doesn't say it's officially G-Sync compatible, but it's important to note. If your computer is capable of handling the games you're playing without drastic framerate spikes, you might be able to use forced G-Sync. Overall, these are great budget 1080p 144Hz IPS monitors. It's crazy to think that it took so long to create IPS panels with such features and size.

Pros
  • Good price
Cons
  • The monitor is too heavy to move.
