Review on πŸš— MEIDI Wireless Car Charger: Efficient 10W Auto Clamping QI Car Phone Charger with One Step Sense Air Vent Phone Holder by Jeff Bundrick

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent mount but careful choice for in-car use

MEIDI 10W Auto Clamp Wireless Car Charger The QI car charger is a well-made phone holder and charger that includes everything you need need to connect along with bracket, fan bracket, fast charger and cable. I was really looking forward to this as I have an older BMW Z3 which has very little space and only a 'lighter' socket for electricity. I assembled a block (very easy) and installed it in the car. It works, but there are a few problems. First the vent mount itself. The vent mount is not a "solid" mount, it's just a large slotted rubber grommet that presses against your vent blade. In my car, even without the phone, the weight of the device pulls the air vent down, preventing the "X-Bracket" from resting properly on the dash at the back. In order to lower the back legs and stand on the dash I have to pull the unit down and then the legs rest against the CD player slot. The phone auto grab feature works well and detects when you put your phone down. a bit loud. When you turn off the device and the device runs out of power, it will open to take out the phone. It also has sensors on both sides that you can use to open the holder. They put a "power/charge" light on top of the device, but when your phone is in the cradle, you can't see it. My phone (iPhone XR) did go into charging mode when placed on the mount, but since it was almost fully charged I couldn't tell you if it was really in "fast charge" mode or not. The holder bounced around a bit during my test drive, but I believe it has to do with the way it attaches to MY dash and it might be normal in your situation. I was hoping this would work for the Z3, but I'll have to keep looking. I'll probably transfer this to my truck and hope it matches that air vent/dash better.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
