Not as secure as such an article should be.

Mine arrived today and works perfectly. However, the design leaves a lot to be desired. I see 3 real problems. I initially liked the fact that I could leave my iPad in the case while it was in the stand. But now I see that if your device isn't in a case, it's not safe at all in my opinion. Also, the way it holds the device isn't adjustable, meaning you just have to slide it in or out to remove it. The problem I had with the holder I bought as a replacement was that after a short period of time the seal wore out and shrank, reducing the reliability of the unit. Without the ability to clench your jaws, you only get an increasingly dangerous opportunity to hang your expensive device in the air. I hope your case is really good. Problem 2 is that the adjustable arm keeps your device off the center of the tripod making it less stable and you end up having to adjust everything to make it more secure. An annoyance if you use it closer to the ground as the tripod legs aren't wide enough to do a good job of avoiding this problem. It's possible, but not encouraging. Problem 3 is the combination of using a plastic ball/socket and a small adjustment knob. The plastic feels good overall, but to compress it well enough to hold your device securely you have to really crank it. Plastic becomes less and less reliable over time as it is a fairly soft material for the job. The ONLY thing holding this together are the 2 balls and sockets which are both plastic and the little knob is difficult to readjust. This is not just a matter of convenience, but the basis of the design. This design itself can be really safe. But ideally it shouldn't be made of a soft material that compresses. In my opinion, this design isn't reliable enough, not durable enough, and given that the penalty for failure is a costly fall, probably not an ideal choice. Mine is working as planned at the moment, but that's the highest compliment I can give it.
