Lightweight and portable (and with a travel case), but also durable and adjustable. Significantly more stable and durable than the plastic versions, but still light. This allows me to elevate my laptop screens closer to eye level for a better view with fewer neck and back problems, but without the hassle and expense of wireless keyboards or external monitors. I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my private laptop in addition to my work laptop. (Note: I'm neither a typist nor a typist; controls have been added, so I work more with the mouse than typing. If you're the former, you may need a gel wrist pad or something in front of the keyboard to give your hands a better angle .)
