For use on a WD 4TB external hard drive. Ideal for WD. I didn't notice any speed difference at all compared to USB, mainly because HD can only send information so fast and my laptop can only read information so fast (HP OMEN 15t) and I have about 2TB of files on my HD. So once connected it takes about 7 seconds for the files to open and maybe another 8 seconds to read each individual file. About what happened before. For some reason I bought 3' don't do it. That's great, but you probably won't need the length. UPDATE 6/11/18: After using this for some time I noticed one thing. The USB-C port isn't quite the right size. If you even hit the table or touch the cord in any way, no matter how light or soft, the HD will turn off. Doing this over and over can corrupt the HD and lose the date which is why I no longer use this product at this time. I can't risk losing all my data. Maybe the cable is too long or idk. Maybe I should have bought one. In any case, it will go to waste unless the seller exchanges it for another. (Used on HP Omen 15t) Update 6/12/18: The seller got back to me very quickly and exchanged it for a smaller 1 inch cable. I have to admit that this is excellent customer service and I will have no problem ordering from them again. I take my hat off to their support team. Updated 06/22/18. Another 1" cable arrived today. I plugged it in and decided to bang the table, give the laptop a little nudge, wiggle the middle of the cable and it never came off. This is a good product , only the 3ft cable is too long, unless you use the whole cable, you are the seller for replacing the first one, very good customer service
