Does not work for heating, cooling and air quality

I received this item to replace a lost remote control for my Dyson AM11 fan. That does not work. I turned on the fan manually, tried all the buttons on the remote control, but to no avail. I've tried cleaning the battery to no avail. Returns are not profitable. I don't want to order a replacement for fear of getting a replacement that doesn't work.
