A few tips that helped

I definitely cried the first time I used this product. I bought 2 sets to make year end bags (cotton) for my students. After spending several hours weeding, I was dismayed that my first attempt melted and didn't stick. There were no instructions included. However, after trying a few suggestions in the comments and a few test samples, the end results were great. WHAT WORKED FOR ME: 1. I set my iron on silk/wool or the highest setting with no steam. I also drained all the water from the iron before I started. 2. I previously went through the fabric with an iron to heat it up.3. I used a stopwatch to be consistent and then put an iron on each section of the HTV for 30 seconds. It sounds ridiculous, but since I was making 24 bags, I quickly realized I couldn't stand there for hours and press the iron, so I put a big candle on top to add weight.4. Repeat (I tried changing the direction of movement of the iron) for another 30 seconds5. Turn the fabric inside out and repeat on the wrong side for another 30 seconds. 6. Turn the fabric right side out and repeat the process again without adding any weight. (As a result, there were four 30-second clicks on each section)7. While the HTV was still hot I used my Cricut spatula to gently press the top of the Vinyl8 down one last time. With a weeding tool and spatula at hand, I slowly removed the plastic cover, trying to catch any stubborn bits. If there was still some looseness, I ironed again with unnecessary carbon paper for another 10-30 seconds. Some bags came out perfectly with no snags, while others required more work, but I suspect this could be due to the uneven heat of my iron. Hope that helps!
