Looks really nice but installation requires some skills

I really like the look and result of this mod but the installation is far from easy and you definitely need to have some technical skills. Some problems I encountered: - Placing LED rings for joysticks can be a little tricky. This should be just right to prevent the PCB joystick from rubbing against the plastic bend. The wires for the LED rings should be bent at a 90 degree angle as close to the LED rings as possible to avoid snagging on the rod. Designs under provided clear joysticks. In the end I re-soldered a bit here to get the maximum possible 90 degree bend, and even with that the sticks still get caught a bit, which brings me to the next point. - The supplied joysticks should be raised slightly to avoid supporting them from below. Don't get stuck on the LED ring when the joystick is fully tilted. I couldn't smoothly move the joystick in circles with the outer shell until I did. I ended up using small pieces of wire that I inserted into the transparent joystick mount to prevent it from being fully connected to the joystick on the board. In fact, it should only be 1-2mm higher for full play. After everything is installed, there are a lot of extra cables. This can complicate the building process a bit. You also have to be very careful not to pinch or break any of the wires. Thoughts on features: - The touch functionality is cool, but still a little annoying. I would prefer a combo button press or something like that. The fact that the mod does not rely on a controller regulated power source means that the LEDs must be turned on and off manually. - NEVER forget to turn off the LEDs. I don't know if the microcontroller IC running the mod has voltage detection (probably not), but the PS4 battery doesn't have built-in voltage protection (the controller does). This means that if you forget about the mod and leave it on, it will continue to consume power and can drain your PS4 battery to the point of not being able to be recharged. This will damage/destroy the battery. Since it's directly in series with the battery, I'm not sure how long it takes for the IC's quiescent current to drain the battery when not in use. That means if you leave the controller idle for a few months and don't use it, the battery will likely die in the same way as the previous point. Why does the active RGB fading setting need to be turned off completely between each color? That looks ridiculous. There should be a mode where the colors slowly fade into each other. I plan on keeping mine on red most of the time anyway, but a slow fade mode would be nice too. Please add a way to dim the LEDs in a future release. They are too bright and distracting, especially on green and blue settings. All in all, at the end of the day everything looks very good and I'm certainly happy with the result, but there is still a lot to be desired. I basically bought this because it's one of the first times I've seen dual molded knobs on the aftermarket where the clear plastic allows the pattern to show through. It looks fantastic and has a great aesthetic impact. I just want LEDs to have better performance.
