I built new shutters for my house after the old ones had rotted. The old shutters were screwed directly into the stucco. This prevented the back of the blinds from drying out and also made them impossible to remove. So I wanted to install the new shutters in a way that would keep them away from the house and allow me to easily remove them for maintenance. Screw the brackets to the wall (went and got the 3" outside screws) and the other bracket to the blinds (using the 5/8" outside screws). Now they switch on and off smoothly. Aluminum doesn't rust either. The ideal solution.
