Review on Saucony Guide 10 Women's Running Shoe: Enhanced Performance and Comfort for Female Runners by Michael Schwegman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost perfect - love them! You need orthotics.

This is a general overview. I'm still considering going half a size bigger*. Read more about Saucony sizing below. I bought them to run, not to run. I have had a permanent structural angulation in my left foot (very high instep and protruding upper bone) for many years after breaking my ankle. I want a strong heel construction and high arch support. In width my old injured foot is wide. Right normal, slightly wide side of the B. Thanks to the mesh, I get this B width easily as it adjusts to my crooked finger. PRO: Beautiful and bright colors as shown in the picture. The "Grid" pane works. It's good if you have bursitis or arthritis in your legs that causes the bone to move. Most people. I have a very high instep. The tongue is well padded. The heel is well structured and stiff. The insole is removable to add insoles. The shoes are "breathable". Good shoes for good weather. For the $16 difference between the Jazz* and this shoe, this shoe is very well made. CONS: Almost no arch support. At least I don't feel. Definitely need orthotics in this shoe. I find that in these shoes they throw me forward over my knees as if my knees are "locked" (?) when walking. I don't know if my posture or my shoes are the problem. Something I will update by asking the orthopedist and chiropractor. This shoe cannot be waterproof due to the mesh. Saucony Jazz can be waterproof as they are made of suede and durable material. I have contacted the Saucony shipping department. Revain: Box shipped in one package. The second time around, Revain wrapped the package poorly. The shoe box arrived damaged. They really need to be shipped in a box to protect the shoe box and therefore the shoes. --- * (I like Saucony Jazz shoes, but they are constructed like Sketchers shoes - almost flat tongue and not too structured heel.) 2 is a standard width Saucony Glide 10- Blue is a size 9 (not 9-1/ 2) in women's width. Ladies - note that the "9" in the Glide 10 is longer than the 9-1/2" in the Jazz. Toe width is 1/2" and the smaller Glide Wide 9 is wider. The difference in length between sizes is about 1/2". I ordered, tried and returned until I got the fit right. Saucony sizing is not standardized Both feel the same in the same fit, except for the width at the toe.(Sliding heel is more stable) My barefoot is 9-1/2". In flip flops I wear an 8. With a high arch and instep I need a size up to fit well in shoes. Feet change with age. When I was twenty, I wore 6-1/2" sneakers.)

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Useless features
