I had a leaking water heater many years ago and the installation site is in a converted basement. It was great damage, so much damage that it happened immediately. I never wanted to go through that again so I bought a cheap battery powered water detector but it eventually died and they were the same price as those washers offered by D-Link. So I saw and ordered them as they allow control via the app and have a very loud alarm. The installation was very easy and the main node is installed behind the refrigerator because there is an additional socket there. I installed a washing machine in a water heater pan and it's supposed to last 5 years. So I order more washing machines because, weird as it sounds, I broke the water handle under the kitchen sink, a huge leak of course, and then even the water filter in the fridge broke, and that was also an extensive cleaning, damage, and expensive again. These things save lives in my opinion because flooding is just awful, it's not just costs, cleaning and damage, but also sentimental things get damaged like old photo albums, record sleeves and other items that you didn't plan to replace but now it is badly damaged. Again, as far as setup goes, it was pretty easy with the included manual.
