2 stars because the build quality looks and feels pretty good compared to my whole box of ethernet cables. I am currently only using Category 5e cable which is included in the modem box provided to me by xfinity. You know, the standard yellow cable that comes with everything connected to the network. Since I have a gigabyte connection, I decided to upgrade to new generation cables. Speed tests on my cat5e were consistently around 970MB//20 downloads. I switched to this new cable and the internet became unstable, almost like a loose connection, constantly losing signal and stopping in the 440-700-100 range. Then my ethernet cable was no longer recognized; Device Manager shows that my computer can't even see its own Intel Lan card anymore. I went back to the regular cable and it showed up in device manager again and the speed was consistent again. I repeated this process several times. Then I used it on my wife's computer. The same thing. The connection speed was 2-300 slower than usual with a pinpoint cable disconnect. If all the reviews are genuine, I'll bet Lemon. However, if most reviews are the placebo effect of a shiny new cable without comparing speed tests or replacing an old 50 foot cable with a 3-6 foot new cable and improvements. Please. EDIT - Added 2 stars. The Windows drivers on both my wife's Realtek and my Intel obviously didn't support it. The cable has been tested and passed with excellent quality. Updated to the latest drivers directly from both manufacturers' websites. Speed and latency tests matched directly to my old Cat 5 cable test on a 1000Mbps network. The latency was about 0.02 slower than a Category 5e cable. Overall a decent cable considering the build quality. I think any difference people see is a placebo effect, or you used a cable that may have had a bad pair and that "fixed" the problem to normal speed.
