I am an avid mountain biker (age 10+) and avoid wearing knee pads because they are uncomfortable, sweaty and generally uncomfortable to wear. After a couple of bad accidents earlier this year that left my knee swollen and kept me from cycling for weeks, I decided to try Leatt Airflex Pro Knee Pads. If you're considering them, buy them. I have about a dozen 1-2 hour rides and a few 4+ hour rides and all I can say is that after about 5 minutes I forget I'm even wearing pads! They are comfortable, light and breathable. They don't get sticky in warm weather (85 degrees Fahrenheit) and I've even "tested" them (read: crashed) a few times and got back on the bike and happily ridden with pads that didn't wear out.
