I have many pictures on the walls. I also have a closet full of art that shouldn't be on the walls. I've only ever used a hammer and nail and that works well enough, but it's even easier. They are durable (I used two of them to hang a very large (4ft x 3ft) framed canvas over my bed. I could probably only use one but felt safer with two. Other not so large pieces fit well The best thing about them is that you don't need a hammer, they make small holes (the size of a nail) that can be filled with some filler or maybe even a good dab of paint and are very easy to do remove and rearrange if you get it wrong the first time. The point on the end that goes into the wall punches through drywall well without making a mess and the hook end is designed and positioned so it's very easy to wire them from the back of the canvas, I don't know how well they work with frames that have hook loops on the back, but I haven't tried that, I'll stock up.
