You have to open the ports or it will ruin your engine due to poor oil circulation
When purchasing these filters, make sure all four ports on the engine side are open. I did find that the epoxy used to glue the mesh to the base covered the holes. You have to open the holes or it will destroy your engine due to poor oil circulation. IMPORTANT! A toothpick was used to clean the holes. I had two filters with this problem. rick
