Review on Transcend TS RDF5R SDHC MicroSDHC Reader by Rick Howlett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Reads data quickly, but poor cover design

First, I have to clarify why I'm only giving this four and not five stars: The cap that covers the USB port doesn't fit the rear ones Devices . This annoys me because the cap inevitably disappears leaving the USB end permanently open even when in storage. Otherwise this device is just great. I bought it to transfer data to and from micro SDXC cards via USB 3.0 and it does it amazingly and fast. I moved 16GB from a 32GB card in just a few minutes (literally a few minutes, no more than twenty) on my Windows 8.1 machine. There's no way I've been able to transfer the same data that quickly with my non-USB 3.0 Hi-Res music player. Please note that you cannot read from an SD card and a micro SD card at the same time on this device; you can only read from one or the other. I also like that the card reader has a blue light that lights up when it's ready. The blue light will turn off if you insert a second card into the device at the same time, letting you know the device is not ready. If you're looking for a reliable little reader then this is for you as long as you don't bother with the lid hassle.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for older people
