First a few notes.- Don't assume this seller knows the product, they don't.- The only aspect of this camera that was 'made' for the Prius is the plastic D-shaped plate around the chamber. Everything else is universal. It is by no means "plug and play". The "manual" is pathetic and doesn't show any useful information. Only specifications that are already in the list are displayed. The wired connection area is unreadable (see the first two images). The manual is more of a promotional booklet than a helpful guide. The listing shows an electrical diagram which is simply not correct. If you follow it, it won't work, you'll waste your time and effort, and you might damage your camera and/or your car. The wiring was either too short or the wrong connector or both. Despite statements to the contrary by the seller, the camera actually runs on 6.5 volts! I tested it on a desktop power supply and it worked with no issues. It most likely has a 3.3V regulator (most cameras actually require 3.3V internally, with the regulator in the "nub in the cable" to drop the voltage down to 3.3V). Before connecting the camera, I did some research on the Prius. Chat forum about adding a backup camera to a 2012 Prius and they stated that the factory camera uses 6.5V. Prius trim level 2 generation 3 with 6.1" touchscreen without navigation (and presumably another trim level 3). Use a regulated 6.5v output of the radio to turn on the camera when reversing and check if the camera is present when the car is on. ACTIVATED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS REAR SHIFTED. Wiring - Prius 3 trim levels and up, the camera is factory mounted with pins in a connector (used for functions other than the backup camera) under the headliner just inside the rear edge. If you're on trim level 2 (which has a 6.1-inch color display with no navigation), the pens (and camera/camera wiring in the door) are just out of place. My advice is to connect to the 4 wires dedicated to the camera and run from there to the camera mount (see schematic for colors, dotted line indicates orange wire). In the end, said and done, I came to the conclusion that the seller has no idea how to use the product they are selling. Just connect 4 wires (ignore the red wire in the video cable). Instructions -- Install the camera -- Route the video cable and power cables along the existing wiring harness with zip ties to the rubber hose leading to the machine. Body (*NOTE* You will need to extend the included power cable) - Cut the video cable about 12" long past the end of the door and route both the extended power cable and the newly cut video cable through the rubber tubing between the rear hatch and the body . Cut the insulation off the video cable, exposing the three wires inside. Use two wires going to the yellow RCA connector (I had yellow (video) and black (video ground)). Ignore the third wire (red), it goes to the lone red wire near the other end, which stays disconnected. (The seller says connect it to the reversing lights. WRONG! Leave it out! - From there, pull down the headliner (instructions are online) until you see 2 connectors located in the middle near the rear edge of the Headliner installed (closest to tailgate).) .The desired connector is the connector further forward. Connect the wires numbered 7,8,9 and 10 on the connector coming from the left. The pins are from the left numbered to the right, top row, then bottom row. See picture with connector labeled "VR1". The connector is on the left side of the picture when viewed from the side. That's all! Start the car and put it in reverse! You'll see green-yellow-red lines (camera adds them and can't be turned off) and text that says something like "Check your surroundings (radio added)!"
