I almost always drink my tea from a mug rather than a teapot and prefer the richer flavor of loose tea to industrial tea bags. But I'm VERY tired of the tedium and mess of cleaning the metal tea balls which also start absorbing the tea oils and after a while spoil the taste. So I decided to try this product. Just used it for the first time (basically you just fill each teabag as you go and then pierce the top with a stick to hang over the cup when you pour the hot water - AROUND the teabag , not in it - at least it seemed wiser to me so that the bag does not overflow) and I am pleased. Simple, light, tea brews quickly and washing is a breeze - just pop out, pop out and save the stick for next time and the tea bag (which only contains very thin paper and the tea is definitely as biodegradable as possible) - maybe can even composted if that's a problem). As simple as can be, yet simply an elegant solution to the loose tea lover's dilemma! I started with a 40k pack just to make sure I like the basic approach, but will be stocking up on refills soon.
