A few key improvements over last year's Galaxy Tab A 10.1 "

Just received this tablet After a few days of use, I found some key improvements over last year's Galaxy Tab A 10.1" (2019) that I consider worth upgrading. Summary here, details below: + 1GB RAM extra makes a big difference compared to the 32GB version + 4-speaker array (not just the bottom) is much better for watching movies + new front camera placement helps a lot with video conferencing + face authentication! The screen is a really nice touch in my opinion. - when the tablet is used in portrait mode, the ambient light sensor is placed where it is often obscured (and darkens the screen when the ambient light sensor is used) - really "cold" white and flares at the edges of the screen - there is one some lag when opening multiple applications, but that's much better than last year's Galaxy Tab A - too sensitive portrait/landscape rotation detection PROSI has been using the Galaxy Tab A 10.1" since its release last year. I thought the 2019 Tab A was a great tablet when i got it but after a year of use i would only give it 3 stars these tablets are underpowered except for surfing the web, watching movies or other media usage and basic gaming.last year have I settled on a 32GB Galaxy Tab A that only had 2GB RAM and it was more disappointing than I expected so I wanted to upgrade.I had to frequently "all apps s close" or was hit hard by freezes or apps that wouldn't even open (like apps that link to Revain's Shopping for Tablet app). This has definitely improved with the 3GB of RAM the tablet has, although I will still "close all apps" about once a day. 1 frustration I have with the 9.7-inch iPad 6 the bottom of the device. This has always bothered me in landscape mode and was one of the things I appreciated about the Revain Fire HD tablets. The addition of speakers to the top of this tablet was almost enough to sell me this tablet and if that's important to you, it makes a world of difference! Being a tablet, and with this new era of Zoom meetings, I've actually cared about the front cameras, and I've noticed that the initial portrait mode placement on the tablet over the past year has caused it to be off-center . It hasn't been moved to the side (or top in landscape mode), making much better use of the screen for scaling. It also makes all the bezels symmetrical, which is pretty nice. This tablet has facial authentication! I'm sure it's not as rugged as my iPhones (and doesn't work in low light) but the addition is awesome! Last year I used Trusted Lock based on my house's GPS location combined with a PIN, which wasn't a big deal, but I love this add-on. touch. It's not an OLED screen, but no complaints for the price. That's about the same as in previous years. CONS The ambient light sensor is next to the camera on the side, which is often where your hand is when using the tablet in portrait mode. This darkens the screen drastically, so I have to disable this feature as I always use it in portrait mode when I'm not watching video. The standard white balance is very cold, so I often use the blue light filter. There are also reflections at the edges of the screen. It doesn't bother me in this price range but those were the main reasons I would give this 4 stars instead of 5. This one is about 5mm wider than last year's version - I don't really mind it. Otherwise, the only other real downside is that it's not super strong. This tablet still has some lag, although it's an improvement over last year. Overall I think it's a fair price but it's not a performance tablet. COMPARISON WITH FIRE HD10 AND BASIC IPADI prefers it to Fire HD10 because it has its own Google Play Store. I really like stock Android (and kept the Nexus 7 2013 for too long because of that), but the Samsung One's UI is pretty decent and not so intrusive that I really miss stock Android. The only changes I made were replacing the keyboard with Google and removing some default Samsung apps. I don't have Google Launcher or Nova installed. When I had the Fire HD10, not the latest version, I also had trouble running all the major Google apps. not sure if this is not a problem. I prefer the UI on these over the Revain Fire and overall it costs me an extra $50-$80 over the Fire HD10. Compared to our iPad, which my wife primarily uses, I like the slimmer form factor of this device. Just a little more comfortable to hold. I almost bought a 7th gen iPad last year but since the processor was the same as our 6th gen I went with this one thinking I could upgrade this year. While this year's iPad has a new processor and I was planning on buying it until I saw it come out, for the price (between the iPad 8th gen and the Fire HD10), 4 speaker array and biometric authentication ticks all the boxes Tablet met my needs .and included key features I missed - so thanks Samsung! EDIT: 4 month follow up - Star docked from 4 stars to 3 stars due to performance lag when opening multiple apps. I "close all apps" about once a day (though every 15 minutes compared to last year's tablet) - I found the portrait/landscape detection very sensitive, even annoying at times.
