You actually use less when you can easily see and control how much you're using. You can even control how many pumps you take. So for delicate liquids like soap, this works great! The pump works as well as I could expect every time. My wife and I each use one (shampoo and shower gel) and this one has a different stock which is very important. I find it much more convenient to use: (1) It has a small footprint and doesn't take up much shelf or shower space. Gone are the giant bottles we used to use. My big bottle of shampoo will last for years. We just refill when it gets low when we clean the shower and we have to remove things from the shower to clean. Plus, moving around to clean is easier than the big bottles they replaced. (2) It's faster to just get and take the metering pump with the set amount. This will save you a few seconds. But there is no longer any need to open the lid, lift and rotate the bottle, etc. One flick of the wrist and you're done. (3) It is not bulky like a new big bottle you just opened. My large shampoo bottle is heavy at first and a little slippery to open and turn and gets lighter and lighter over time. This is a no-fuss, no-weight solution. (4) It is suitable for cases that are too liquid. My dog's shampoo is too runny. I pour a little in my hand, lose some and try to drip on the dog. I usually have wire cast in my hand. But it's so wasteful. Now our 3rd bottle can be used to get and use dog shampoo with one person and effortless.
