The material is very comfortable on the skin and does not sting. Thin and light without feeling cheap. These are great shorts for lounging or sleeping in during spring and summer. A huge comfort upgrade over basketball or mesh shorts. It's a little pricey but I'll probably buy more as gifts or for myself as I love the quality. As I said, there are no side pockets, but I don't usually wear shorts on vacation, so that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
