I'm not a big tea drinker but I'd like to investigate. I've read that cast iron is great for serving and heating tea. I bought a cast iron kettle (an old Dutch brand) but read that I shouldn't use it directly on a heat source if I want to keep the finish. So I bought this heater to match my kettle. I'm a bit sad that it's not a perfect green color combo, but it's pretty close. It's quite heavy, a bit warmer and a lot more elegant than I expected, but it worked fine for me. I also bought several mugs separately, they are also cast iron. I love the set but what I love the most is the color of the teapot and wish the color on the heating pad was lighter to match. I have not yet tested it. Maybe this weekend.
