Great product, beautifully designed.

I have an Onkyo receiver and it's having overheating issues. I bought this unit specifically for an AV device and it works. Not enough time to get used to it properly, but it works fine now. I found that it generated its own thermal signature and turned on and off even when my receiver was off. So it took a while to get the temperature settings right before it worked as I expected. It now kicks in when my Onkyo is working hard and generates a lot of heat to keep it cool. It is idle during normal TV viewing. Turn on Onkyo and it feels warm and automatically turns on to cool down. You need to isolate the device you want to cool for it to work properly. My Spectrum cable box generates a lot of heat and I found that it started the aircom box so I moved the cable box to the other side of the A/V console and the problem was fixed. Beautifully designed, it looks like a high-quality A/V box with a blue display and goes about its work unnoticed. My fans run at low speed because they make noise at high speed. I didn't see a need to increase the fan power as this unit does an excellent job of cooling my massive Onkyo receiver. My Onkyo got so hot that it shut down due to the normal fans that are built into a very good audio/video console. I didn't have this problem and turned off the fans in the AV console because it does its job well and the other hardware doesn't need additional cooling. Good product.

Pros
  • Quiet fan system for cooling receivers, amplifiers, DVRs and other AV components.
Cons
  • Hard to say
