This is my second strap. Ratchet straps combine the endless adjustment of a military style strap with the style of a traditional business strap. The best from both worlds. comfort and class. Compared to my first ratchet strap, this one has several advantages: + Real leather with real stitching (some ratchet straps are "leather” with embossed stitching). Good, smooth, beautiful skin+. The buckle is a bit smaller and neater than my other belt and has a smart release mechanism. The ratchet is released with a small lever instead of removing the entire buckle. In my opinion, this construction works better - the webbing is easier to thread through the Buckle+. The buckle is very pretty. Nice pattern but not flashy.+ Comes in a nice gift-worthy box.+ Very easy to adjust - the pin buckle, which you have to lift to release the strap from the buckle, opens easier than my other strap but holds it Tape still secure after cutting and reapplying. Very easy. Note. If you need to shorten the strap to fit your waist, do so gradually. To maximize future flexibility you need to ensure that the grooves on the back of the belt just engage the buckle's ratcheting mechanism and this may mean leaving a longer end than usual on the other side of the buckle. It's better to trim it down a bit and wear it, then trim further if needed, rather than risk taking too much off the strap. My only concern is that these ratchet straps will last as long as regular straps. I have leather belts with regular buckles that I've worn since the 70's. With these ratchet straps, I'm not sure if the grooves on the back of the strap will wear out over time. It's probably not a big deal considering how cheap belts are these days - I think I'd be happy if they lasted for years instead of decades.
