They are slightly contoured making them much better suited to jackets and heavier shirts than wire or most plastic hangers. I don't think they are thick enough for suits. I tried a wool sport coat and it just didn't hang as naturally as it would on heavier hangers. It's not a problem for me as I have enough "matching" hangers for it. They are perfect for some of my western jackets (like jackets or lumberjack shirts) and all my shirts from light summer shirts to thicker winter shirts. . One feature I love is the pant bar. There are longitudinal grooves that prevent the pants from slipping off. I have some worsted pants that won't stay up on regular hangers but won't slide off this hanger. The overall construction is excellent, including the swivel hook and the finish of the wood itself. As I said, they're not great for suits (well, light, summery might do), but they're perfect for everything else in my closet. I'll probably order another set to finally ditch the wire hangers I've accumulated over the years.
