They are slightly contoured making them much better suited to jackets and heavier shirts than wire or most plastic hangers. I don't think they are thick enough for suits. I tried a wool sport coat and it just didn't hang as naturally as it would on heavier hangers. It's not a problem for me as I have enough "matching" hangers for it.
