Review on Managed IaaS by Michael Bustamante

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My first experience with Amazon's Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) was great

It's extremely easy to use for newbies like myself who have never used it before. The tool offers various options such as auto-scaling etc. In order to create an AMI you need to have certain skills in Linux which can be daunting at first but once you get over this hurdle there are no problems with creating AMIs. You also don't need any other software or third party tools aside from AWS itself. If someone were looking for simple platform where they could easily launch their own EC2 instances without having to worry about hardware costs then this would be ideal because of its very low price compared to similar alternatives (such as DigitalOcean). We needed something that we didn't already have our hands on so we decided to go ahead and give Amazon Virtual Private Cloud a try since we had heard great things about them.

Pros
  • Easy way, even people unfamiliar will know how do deploy stuff.
  • Relatively cheap if comparing prices between companies offering comparable services,
  • Scalability is pretty straightforward unlike some cloud providers out here today;)
  • Fast deployment times via terraform/cloudformation scripts when using VPC along side your existing infrastructure setup within VMware vCenter server management suite(ESXI
Cons
  • There are nuances
