Not surprising, but not bad for the price

Fits my 2014 F140 XLT to replace a factory camera that failed after 6 years. The original still worked sometimes, but most of the time I had a blue or black screen. This backup camera isn't amazing, but it's not bad for the price either. The Ford dealer is asking about $350 for a factory replacement. Pros: - Easy to install. Maximum 15-20 minutes. - The picture quality is a bit clearer than the original factory camera. - The original guides (backup guides) appear even though they are not centered. Cons: - Camera angle is too small. In the parking lot you can only see the undersides of the cars behind you. I tried lifting it but still couldn't lift it high enough. - There are many fisheyes (curves) in the picture. - The view is not centered. In my comparison image you can see that the camera shows more of the bumper on the passenger side and less on the driver's side. My biggest complaint comes from the wrong angle (top to bottom and left to right), so I looked very closely to make sure the camera was properly seated in the body. It definitely is. The camera body looks exactly like the factory original, so it sits in the body the same way. Be aware that removing your blue oval Ford badge on earlier models may break it. The plastic tabs break off. It was an unsuccessful "one-shot" design by Ford. Sometime in late 2013 or early 2014, Ford changed the design to a better one that can be removed without breaking the tabs. So if you have a 2013 or 2014, try removing your emblem first to see if you need to order a replacement (or re-glue/silicone the old one).

Pros
  • β–ΆTested before shipment to ensure product safety, stability and durability;
Cons
  • Legacy model
