I don't know why Velcro is designed for seat belts. no There were no instructions in the kit as to when this might be useful. The only literature you will receive is an image of the installed product. I suppose this can be useful if you need someone to sit with the dog. But that would mean a person could be covered in dog hair! It also has the optional hammock function, where you also use the front seat headrests. However, there is no mention of a safe weight limit. The manufacturer must point this out. I think a big St. Bernard will knock him out in no time. So buyers beware!
