Excellent Protective Tape

Update 5/7/19: Well I've already ridden about 850 miles in the muddy PNW and can report that the tape is still holding up. It has definitely saved my frame and paintwork from wear and tear as I've lowered the bike a few times. None of the tape is peeling off, not even on the posts, which get a little chafed by my heel. I even put some duct tape on kids bikes to try and reduce scratches so they'll be easier to sell when they're done! I bought this tape to protect my new carbon mountain bike frame and it works really well. As others have said, the best way to apply is to use some sort of liquid lube to help position the tape. First cut and trim the tape to the right size and shape, then remove some of the backing and spray (I used auto parts spray) the tape. Then peel off the rest of the backing and spray onto the entire exposed "sticky" side. Then apply the tape to the desired location and when you are sure the placement is correct, use a squeegee to squeeze the water out. I simply used a microfiber cloth for this, actually no mop was necessary. So far the tape is holding up great after 200 miles of wet and muddy PNW. None of this, even the stuff I didn't cut very well, sticks out of the frame. I had to take some off that I had lost and not a trace was left. Remember that the tape has a "shiny" appearance. So if your paint is matte, there will be a noticeable difference between the areas with and without the tape. 30ft is enough for multiple bikes, including top and down tubes, racks, and anything else you think needs some protection.

Pros
  • ISC Helicopter-OG Surface Guard Tape, formerly known as Helicopter Blade/Wing Leading Edge Tape, is an extremely strong and flexible polyurethane tape.
Cons
  • boring packaging
