Dense soda ash in granular form that does not disperse in the air as easily as powder

- Soda ash, washing soda, sodium carbonate or Na2CO3 are some names for a multi-purpose substance. Just don't confuse it with sodium bicarbonate, which is baking soda and much milder than that soda ash. Jacquard sells it as a fixative for dyes like Procyon/Reactive Fiber. Namely, it "attaches" dye molecules to the cellulose of plant fibers, i.e. cotton, linen and viscose of natural origin, which if I remember correctly! - are mainly repolymerized cellulose obtained from various plants, in particular bamboo, beech and hemp. In addition to being a color fixative, it also has various cleaning properties. Note, however, that this is not the same as the washing soda sold in the laundry section of the grocery store; This is a "dense" form that contains no hydrates, whereas in a wash form, multiple water molecules are bound to each sodium carbonate molecule. The net effect is that this denser form is more durable and therefore more basic/pungent. As such, care must be taken when using this dense form of sodium carbonate as it *can* cause a chemical burn. At the same time, the format of this Jacquard baking soda is the safest, because the granules are small enough to dissolve well, but heavy enough that they cannot be easily blown or lifted into the air. air like powder. Therefore, the pellets are more difficult to breathe. But wear good chemical resistant gloves and goggles and read the safety precautions. Soda jacquard can be *very* helpful, but it's important to be safe!
