Definitely impractical as a hybrid, works better as a backpack. Anyway I wasn't interested in turning it into a shoulder bag and as a backpack I really liked the look so I'm happy. But that would be too cumbersome for him, as someone else mentioned in another review. I received Wine and I really like the color. It leans more toward brown than burgundy, but this color goes well with whatever you wear. I love that there is a laptop sleeve inside! And I love that you can use the bag unfolded as it's long enough to carry longer documents like legal sized paper without having to fold them and strong enough not to crumple them. Oh! I came here to write a review to point this out exactly and almost forgot that the hardware inside the wine bag is not antique silver as pictured. This is scrap gold!
