Review on 🐢 Nutritious and Convenient Freeze-Dried Grain Free Limited Ingredient Patties Dog Food - Vital Essentials by Bobby Chandler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I can finally feed my dog raw food!

I have a 19 month old Rottweiler mix who came to my rescue. (rotten boxer I guess) When I first brought her home she was a gluttonous eater who literally inhaled her food so the other dogs she grew up with wouldn't steal it from her. For the first few months I kept her on a rotation diet of various high quality grain free pellets and compound food from high quality canned food to salmon, tuna or squash. I was also able to mix various additives into her feed without her knowledge. Oh, those were really easy days. At some point during this time I read about the benefits of going raw and although I've been a vegetarian for 15 years I wanted to try it for my dog. Unfortunately, it gave her diarrhea and she stopped eating it altogether, so I gave up. Even cooked meat upsets her stomach (I now know I can slow cook meat at low temperature in a covered glass bowl to minimize loss of key nutrients and enzymes during cooking). Unfortunately, after treatment for worms, which was definitely the cause of her weak physique and wolfish appetite, and a bout of coccidiosis, she lost her appetite completely. I tried desperately to feed her and tried everything and everyone without much success. After trying everything I could think of and then some, I managed to find a solution. If I were to take one of her treats, brush the bottom with peanut or raw almond butter, place the kibble inside (and some of the supplements I've given her, though not all), then cover the food in peanut butter, she would meal. If I partially hand fed them, I could get them to eat a cup or more, and I could increase that by mixing the pieces into our workout treats during our walks. While I was happy to have at least one dog eating again (at least every few days, which is actually more in line with how dogs eat in the wild), I wasn't happy being fed the SAME pellets and the SAME peanut or raw almond butter every day. I found a package of Vital Essentials beef patties on sale at a local family store and figured it was worth the $6 investment to see if she ate them. oil every night. (I thought some raw foods were better than none at all, plus adding extra calories isn't bad either.) Of course, you shouldn't. Then I got creative and slathered some raw almond butter on top and as soon as she sniffed it her eyes widened and she swallowed it. I was thrilled - FINALLY! I can feed my dog raw food and know he's getting some of the healthy benefits of a raw food diet; without worrying about diarrhea, which no doubt kept coming. She still turns her nose up at it from time to time and it's not the ONLY food I feed her, but it's definitely the food I like best! As her appetite and diet changed, her BM loosened up most of the time. Even after I added a probiotic (in pill form since I can no longer feed her supplements) to her diet, I didn't see much of an improvement - until she started eating Vital Essentials! Now her Bmz are what they should be - very small (for their size) and they can be lifted without leaving anything on the grass, but they aren't so hard that she finds them difficult to reach. Now she tends to eat them twice. per day, although she will turn her nose up at him after 1 large schnitzel or 2-3 small ones. That's just not enough for a dog her size and I still believe in eating a varied diet that mimics eating in the wild. when I'm working and I know that she's sitting at home and waiting. I hate to think of her sitting there hungry, but often when I get home I find her stomach gurgling as she wolfs down food from my hands in hunger. The only issues or concerns I have with food are these: -1) When I first bought mini beef pies on sale I was confused by the packaging - I couldn't figure out if it was diluted with water or served dry should be and even the seller wasn't sure. Perhaps additional instructions on the packaging that they can be served "as is" would eliminate any possible confusion. should have broken it for her after she coated the parts with lead!) 2 - Definitely not widely used locally. The store I originally found it at had ONLY one bag (although it's still listed as a supplier on the Vital Essentials website) and was never refilled. Of course I can and will order from Revain, but it would be nice if I could shop locally as well. feed this as the main food. I'm sure it's not too bad for small dogs β€” the mini patties sell in a bag for about $25 with free shipping. (with Prime) Unfortunately for larger dogs that need 8 or more patties a day, this bag doesn't last long. And for big chops, there's no prime delivery. Another option is to order large patties, but a roll of these still only lasts 1-2 weeks and can cost as much as the regional red Origen pieces that can last you a month. or more! 4) Sizing - It would be really nice if they made the LARGE bag of mini beef patties available on Revain - I've noticed that some of their other varieties will be available in 14 and 16 ounces. Pockets, but I only found beef in 14 oz. Even better when it comes in 20 ounces. bag and was priced between large patties and 12 ounces. a packet of mini cupcakes5) It would be nice to have some kind of program for regular customers! (Especially since there are other freeze dried cakes to try!) However, I noticed that one of the companies I buy larger cakes from through Revain have changed their prices so shipping is now included and they are offering a discount offer 5% if you buy two packs and 10% if you buy more - I usually only buy one at a time due to the cost but since they offer a discount I figured why not? However, I'd love to see something direct from the manufacturer, or even just a random coupon from their site here or there. All in all, these are all SMALL issues - just wanted to point them out to people who might consider this meal. My dog LOVES their beef rolls and so do I. I love the fact that she eats them, sometimes twice a day! This is a dog that usually sticks its nose in steak, chicken or lamb, but LOVES to eat grass. I love the fact that it's raw, AAFCO approved, which stands for a balanced raw food diet, and that the company has such strict methods. safe and nutritious food for your dog. I would definitely recommend this food to at least try and see if your dog likes it - hopefully the company will send samples if you contact them.
