Rugged, Waterproof, Comfortable (5- Stars)

These Keen hiking shoes offer great support, wide toe boxes, rigid rubber toe caps, deep treads, waterproofed leather, and ample padding in the tongue and around the foot openings. The pink round laces need to be double-knotted to keep them from untying, but they add a feminine touch to what otherwise is a clunky and rugged shoe. Except for a small pressure point at the outside of my right ankle bone, these shoes were comfortable out of the box. Now that I've worn them a bit, I've completely forgotten about the pressure point. My feet are between sizes, depending on brand, shoe type, and sock thickness. In Keen, I've been ordering up a half-size (a 9 instead of an 8.5) because I have a pair of 8.5 Keens that can only be worn with thin socks. Keen seems to have adjusted the sizing upwards a bit, at least with this shoe, because I'm pretty sure that an 8.5, even with thick socks, would have fit perfectly. These feel a little big.I especially love the rigid toe and rubber toe cap on these. I have older waterproof Keen hiking shoes where the toe has scraped off to reveal white plastic underneath. A rubber toe cap would have prevented that. Now I don't have to worry about ruining the shoe or even its look when I scrape against a rock. These offer such good support and comfort than I can easily transition from trail to street. I never feel like I have to rip them off my feet the way I used to before I got into Keens.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann
