Bike Mirrors…take 2

Last December I bought a Mongoose Argus Sport fat bike for my 60th birthday and immediately decided to add a few safety features including rear view mirrors. The first pair I bought were ok - for a while. I liked the almost 3 inch diameter convex surface as it gave a fairly wide view of what was approaching behind me, but it quickly became apparent that the attachment of the "tie down straps" was far from perfect and they regularly fell out regardless of the tension of the adjusting screw. So one day I went into my garage and found one of the mirrors on the floor. The strap held, but the cheap plastic the strap was attached to just snapped under the tension of the rubber. Then I found that they don't wrap around the handlebars, but are inserted into the holes at the end of the handlebars and held firmly in place with an expansion bolt system that seems to work pretty well. I don't expect rejection in the middle of the night like I used to. The mirrors themselves aren't as big as the others, and the reflective surface is far from perfect visually, but that's more than enough for my needs. I just need to see if a truck is coming - I don't need to read the license plate! Also, I like the "ball head" design of the mirror mount itself. By loosening or tightening a screw, the mirror can be adjusted in any direction. My old mirror could only be tightened along one axis of movement. My first opinion is to give this one 5 stars... but we'll see how it holds up!
