The only difference I see is that instead of one 18650 battery there are now 2 of these and they are practically useless in anything that doesn't have the necessary positive contact which is the recessed positive terminal on any 18650 battery The 18650 design (here) prevents the device from being installed backwards, but some might suspect it won't work if installed backwards. The only major change is the use of NOAA weather channel frequencies instead of (2) SW bands. Oddly enough, the front label still says SW in the band list, but at least the brand has changed the frequency label on the back from AM/FM/SW to AM/FM/NOAA. Although there is a list of each range set on the box, none of them were marked showing which range set is used, except for the label on the back of the unit. It takes some time to get used to the buttons to avoid getting an error message on the screen. because the instructions are these repeated sentences that end up talking about the 9kHz stepped tuning that is available on the SW model, but they all use the same model number "HRD-900".
