It's tough so after a few weeks of using the product I can say you can't compare it to the chemical heat packs you put in your toe area. They are way hotter and bulkier than these. They do help keep your shoes warm though, 3 different settings is good although it's a little hard to know which ones they're set to. Which brings me to my main concerns. Battery life is far from what it claims to be and certainly doesn't last 8 hours a day regardless of the temperature setting. The heat output is also not like the thermal packs I am used to. I think part of my problem is that I'm used to the somewhat excessive heat dissipation of thermal packs. If I didn't use heat packs they would probably be more useful. But again, I'm comparing here. Although the performance is not comparable, it keeps your feet warm. Battery life is probably 25% shorter than advertised
