Very different from cotton
Unlike cotton, which absorbs water, these "plastic" microfiber towels do not absorb water. What they can do is hold water between large numbers of individual fibers. It takes some strength to rub the towel on the skin. Not uncomfortable, just different than cotton. The good news is that this friction doesn't produce cotton fluff. My white counter was always dusted with fine cotton fluff. In this case, it chases green fluff. Since these long plastic threads do not produce lint, there are no green stains on the counter. Conclusion: I love these towels.
